Assistive Technology

I am a senior lecturer at the University of Glasgow in Scotland with a number of years of experience developing technology to support blind, deaf and deafblind people.  I am currently carrying out research, supported by a Leverhulme Research Fellowship, into the travel experiences of blind and visually impaired people.  The aims of this research are improving understanding of the travel process for blind and visually impaired people and determining whether there is a need for new travel aids, information systems or more accessible public spaces to make travel easier for them.

As part of this research I am looking for blind and visually impaired people to complete questionnaires and be interviewed.  The interviews will take between and three hours and are generally by phone at a time convenient to you.  The questionnaires should not take more than 40 minutes to complete and can be downloaded from the link below.   Please contact me on m.hersh@elec.gla.ac.uk or 0141 330 4906 if you would like to be interviewed, would like to be sent a questionnaire or you would like further information about my work.
